TJ yawned and stretched his arms out wide. He’d been sitting in the recliner for hours reading Douglas Sutton’s last will and testament. It was an interesting story to say the least. It gave him a complete block of information about the Underground, the home that once was, the barn, garage, and the other amenities of the ranch.

In the document there were maps showing all the features of the ranch. He read about an armory and from the damage to the home, knew it had been the cause of the explosion. Maybe they had blown it during the battle… He didn’t think it mattered so he wouldn’t press anyone for an answer.

He dug through the sheets, found the map and directions to the Underground, and leaving the den, soon had the power running at full power according to the instructions. He wanted to ensure full power wouldn’t cause and overload or something. Everything appeared to be running fine. It would be a wonderful night tonight. He let the system run for a bit and letting it go, went back out into the tunnel and going to the western end of the Underground, went to the hatchway there. The short tunnel, littered with spent brass, empty magazines, and discarded grenade pins, was not damaged. Dan had told him about all the rocket and forty-millimeter grenade hits, and he wanted to confirm there wasn’t any damage. He saw the additional ammunition and weapons stored near it. After opening the hatch, he climbed out of the top and the scene that met him still took his breath. Looking to the east, the sun rise was stunning. Doug had certainly picked a marvelous place to build is home.

Closing the western portal, he moved to the eastern side he made sure everything was in place. More weapons and ammunition were stored here and as he climbed, opened the hatch he saw the vista once again. This time he stood on the lip of the Underground and looked all around. Behind him, to the north, he could see the antenna from the sheriff’s office base station. He chuckled at that. Moving to the eastern edge, he could see the dirt trail coming up near the trees and TJ figured Sutton moved supplies up here on that road using an ATV like Dan the day before. He would as well.

To the west were the mountains and the valley running upwards following the fork of the Little Laramie River. He knew from reading Doug’s manuscript that several survival storage units were up that trail. To the south and down the mountain lay Doug’s ranch. He could see the garage, the house, the barn, and his hummer and trailer. Beyond that was a pasture and further on the mountain rose once again. TJ knew Albany, Wyoming, was about three miles, as the crow flew, that direction. He could not see the three Marine’s homes from there.

Turning to his left to the east, he could see that marvelous view. In the distance, Sheep Mountain stood majestic in the sunlight.
